Hybrid Car

The Hybrid Cars are type of cars that uses distinct power sources to move them, the most common used term for the hybrid cars are the Electric hybrids cars which mainly uses an engine and electrical motors. There are two types of the electrical hybrid cars which are the parallel hybrid cars which use either the electric motor or gasoline engine to turn the transmission, and the series hybrid car which only has the electric motor which is directly connected to the transmission, The gasoline engine is used for charging the batteries that are used to charge the electrical motor.
In the early days of the 17th century a Jesuit priest named by Ferdinand Vebiest started working on the hybrid vehicle, this was the first type in the world of hybrid cars. At first he started his plans to begin working on a simple 4-wheel vehicle that could run on steam. Although he spent around 15 years there were no evidence that hybrid cars ever came to exist. Later on by the 18th century came a person named by Nicholas Cugnot came out with a steamed carriage, he did all the needed drawings and came up with a vehicle that could move at a speed of 6 miles per hour. Personally I consider this to be a big step in hybrid car inventions, but the big problem was that it was really hard to maintain enough steam to travel any real distance, so people considered this to be not very successful project. In the 19th century the efforts started in Scotland by Robert Anderson where the first electrical powered car was created. This vehicle had limited range and the battery power was very difficult to recharge. And by 1870 a lighter motor was invented by Sir David Solomon, and the battery was a problem too.
The developments came in the 20th century and basically in 1900 when an employee at the Lonher Coach factory named by Ferdinand Porsche developed 4 wheel hybrid vehicle named by the (MIXTE), it included a pair of generators driven by an engine and it could travel for 65km on batteries. This MIXTE broke several records and won several awards. The MIXTE used a gasoline engine which was powering a generator. It had a top speed of 50km/hr. later on 1902 came George Fischer from England producing a Racing Hybrid. More and more trails came in the 20th century to develop the hybrid car.
Modern developments accrue in the 21st century where several companies such as: Toyota, Honda and Ford and more over started to develop their own designs of hybrid cars and the release them to the markets. More than 4.5 million hybrid electric vehicles have been sold worldwide by the end of December 2011.The latest hybrid car was released in 2012 by Volkswagen is working by diesel –electric hybrid and gasoline-electric hybrid car. There are also new hybrids cars are scheduled to be released within 2012 from the following companies (Audi – BMW – Ford and Volkswagen).
In conclusion I would like to write that people are becoming more and more interested in the new hybrid cars that are coming out every year. People love them because they are more environmental friendly and can offer longer rides; also they have excellent performance capabilities and can operate like the gasoline powered cars. Maybe in the future people will stop using the normal cars because on the environment pollution issue and the hybrid cars will be used widely.

"If you think hybrid-electric vehicles are a 21st Century exclusive, think again. General Motors showed off (working!) hybrid prototypes in the 1960s and the technology was already more than 60 years old! Take a trip with me, into the forgotten history of hybrid cars" (Borras, J.
